Avoidance · A balance

When the hard thing came up today, did you lean in or step back?

The choices: Stepped back to Leaned in.

How it is answered

A five step balance. You pick one of five positions between two sides, such as It took and It gave. Some questions are about a tilt rather than an amount, and five steps capture the tilt without asking for false precision.

When it is asked:A question chosen for tonight because of what you have answered before, what is going on in your life or the pattern that is forming.Depth 2:A question that asks for a moment of honest looking back on the day.

Why Insenia asks this

Avoidance is a thematic dimension, so the wording changes from evening to evening and the answers feed the profile rather than a time series. The questions are small and specific: a message left unanswered on purpose, a task put off since this morning, a screen reached for to stop thinking.

Nothing here is asked as an accusation. One of the questions in this dimension is whether there is a question you would rather not be asked tonight, and no is a complete answer.

What it tends to reveal

After a couple of weeks the things being postponed tend to cluster around a few themes, often a conversation, a money matter or a decision. Seeing the same category appear several times is usually more informative than any single evening.

The app also notices how a hard moment was met, whether by leaning in, stepping back or distracting. It records the mix as it is and does not grade it.
